School and System Solutions

We believe that all learners deserve access to high quality, inclusive educational opportunities. Solutions that improve access for diverse learners are community-centered and build on strengths of the school team. That's why we design solutions aligned with the unique needs of the students, community, and school team. We are dedicated to supporting teams to create schools where diverse learners thrive.

How we do it.

All of our schools and their learners are diverse, and our School Partnerships reflect this. We engage with all schools and organizations using the Diverse Learner Cycle of Improvement:

“DLC has been a great thought partner in the work I do serving diverse learners. Working with Brooke and her team, we’ve extended the capacity of our network to support teachers in better serving diverse learners.”

What it looks like.

Every partnership is unique. Designing a partnership that makes sense for you and your context is an important part of the process. When a partner identifies a challenge, we create a custom proposal for review. Here are some examples of past partnerships:

Understand.

  • Conduct a comprehensive student supports program assessment and provide strategic recommendations for increased diverse learner success.

  • Conduct a program study focusing on a particular program (i.e. RTI systems, Newcomer student program, etc) and provide recommendations for improved development of program.

  • Review charter application for evidence of diverse learner inclusion and best practices. Provide feedback for improvement.

Develop.

  • Facilitate the development of Tier 2 and 3 behavior intervention systems and formation of school-based Behavior Support Teams.

  • Create and implement professional development series focused on co-teaching best practices, paired with follow-up coaching for teachers to generalize skills to their classroom contexts.

  • Design teacher evaluation system specific for diverse learner educators, including coaching look-fors and annual review process.

  • Develop strategic plan for implementing more consistent, effective Response-to-Intervention systems, including design of resources to select appropriate interventions, design tracking systems, and build team capacity to implement.

  • Support the development of a robust, standards-aligned curriculum for self-contained special education setting.

Sustain.

  • Partner on school team walk-through to assess progress toward the team’s diverse learner Key Performance Indicator: increasing access at Tier 1.

  • Design tracking system for monitoring continued document compliance throughout the school year.
